Copa Mercosur 2026: Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay Compete in Rosario Ahead of Pan American Championship
Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina — The Argentine Mixed Martial Arts Federation (FAAMM), Argentina’s official amateur MMA federation and a member of GAMMA International, hosted the Copa Mercosur 2026 on August 2 at its headquarters in Rosario, Santa Fe.
The international competition brought together athletes from Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, providing an important competitive opportunity ahead of the upcoming GAMMA Pan American Championship in Colombia.
“Seeing the ring in Rosario with the flags of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, and our U10 athletes competing on the same card as world champions, is the clearest picture of where this federation is headed. Every Copa Mercosur leaves us institutionally stronger and better prepared for what’s next,” said Lucio Carlo Gianni, President and Director General of FAAMM.
A total of 24 athletes representing the GAMMA federations of the three South American nations competed across 10 categories, covering MMA, Striking MMA, Kickboxing and K1.
The competition featured divisions ranging from U10 to Senior, with both men’s and women’s brackets represented throughout the event.
Argentina fielded the largest delegation, with 13 athletes representing several regions of the country, including Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires Province, the City of Buenos Aires and Corrientes. The diverse representation highlighted the continued expansion and nationwide development of combat sports under FAAMM.

Argentina finished at the top of the medal table with an impressive total of 13 medals, including:
- Argentina: 9 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze
- Paraguay: 1 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze

For supporters unable to attend the competition in person, Copa Mercosur 2026 was broadcast live through the Sporttech sports platform, allowing audiences to follow the action remotely.
The tournament represented the final international competition for Argentina’s athletes before the GAMMA Pan American Championship, giving the delegation an important opportunity to test their preparation against regional opponents.
The GAMMA Pan American Championship 2026 will take place in Bogotá, Colombia, from September 8 to 12, bringing together athletes and National Federations from across the Americas for one of the continent’s major GAMMA competitions.
Copa Mercosur once again demonstrated the growing cooperation between GAMMA National Federations in South America and the continued development of athletes across all age divisions, from grassroots competition to the international elite level.
